How It Started
I’ve been drawn to the idea of zero waste for as long as I can remember. As a child, I never believed in throwing things away just because they were old or because I had something new. I always found ways to reuse, repurpose, or give them a second life before finally letting go.
Where I come from, we value things beyond measure—every object, every piece of fabric, every little thing holds meaning. Naturally, I was always fascinated by the idea of making something useful out of what others might consider “scraps.”

Fast forward to college, I intentionally picked projects where I could create something out of waste, unknowingly following a path that truly excited me. Then came Lohana Lifestyle. From the very beginning, I knew I wanted to build Lohana on the pillars of sustainability—but sustainability is a vast space. Achieving 100% sustainability as a brand is challenging, so we decided to take it one step at a time.

We started with:

✅ 100% organic fabrics

✅ Natural dyes

✅ Ethical, small-batch production

Slowly, as our confidence in this journey grew, I knew the next step had to be zero waste.
It began with scrunchies—a small, simple experiment. I had doubts. Would people even buy them? But something in me said, keep going, you’ll find your people. Then came pouches, bookmarks, key tags, and so much more. Each piece, no matter how small, carried a story—proof that waste can be transformed into something beautiful and useful.

Why It Matters
The fashion industry is one of the most wasteful in the world. Big brands produce in bulk, discarding excess materials without a second thought. But at Lohana, we believe every fabric scrap has potential. Instead of sending them to landfills, we choose to repurpose them into meaningful products.
By working on our Zero-Waste Project, we are:

For me, this isn’t just about making scrunchies and pouches. It’s about changing perspectives—seeing value where others see waste, making conscious choices, and proving that fashion can be both beautiful and responsible.
